Analysis of the Contents about Refugees in High School ‘World Geography‘ Textbooks 고등학교 ‘세계지리’ 교과서의 난민 내용 분석: 김정숙¹ ‧ 박선미²

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to summarize the issues surrounding the refugee issue, analyze the characteristics of the composition of educational contents on refugees in the “World Geography” textbooks, and grasp the perspective of seeing refugees. The results of the study are summarized as follows. First, refugees are covered in four major chapters. The content focused on refugee issues in Africa and Southwest Asia. Second, the educational content on refugees was organized around the themes of factors of occurrence, countries of origin and acceptance, reasons for and against refugee acceptance, and efforts to solve refugee problems. Third, although more than 80% of refugees are accepted in developing countries, it was described that developed countries are accepting most of them. Fourth, the concept and scope of refugees are being treated very vaguely. Fifth, the complex refugee problem was dealt with too simply and the refugee group was overgeneralized.

본 연구는 난민문제를 둘러싼 쟁점을 정리하고, 「세계지리」 교과서를 대상으로 난민에 관한 교육내용 구성의 특징을 분석하며, 내용 구성 기저에 깔린 난민을 보는 관점을 파악하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 연구 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 난민은 4개의 대단원에서 다루고, 아프리카와 서남아시아 난민문제에 집중되었다. 둘째, 난민에 관한 교육내용은 발생 요인, 발생국과 수용국, 난민수용 찬반이유, 난민문제 해결노력이라는 주제를 중심으로 조직되었다. 셋째, 난민 80% 이상을 개발도상국에서 수용하고 있음에도 불구하고, 선진국이 난민 대부분을 수용하고 있는 것으로 묘사되었다. 넷째, 난민에 대한 개념과 그 범위가 매우 모호하게 다뤄지고 있다. 다섯째, 복잡한 난민문제를 지나치게 단순하게 다루고, 난민집단을 지나치게 일반화하였다.
