Abstract

This study aims to explore the value and methods of the geopolitical approach in global citizenship education. It presents the value and necessity of the geopolitical approach focusing on the cognitive, social and emotional, and behavioral domains of global citizenship education. In addition, the following are suggested as geopolitical approaches in global citizenship education. First, it should be a geopolitical approach centered on the process of critical analysis and reflection on the perspective, knowledge, and evaluation of the world. Second, it should seek a geopolitical approach for coexistence, peace, mutual cooperation, and sustainable development of the global society based on geographical geopolitics. Third, it is necessary to transform into global geopolitics for protecting all living things on Earth at a global level and for coexistent peace between humans and non-humans as well as between humans.

본 연구는 세계시민교육에서 지정학적 접근의 가치와 방법을 모색하는 데 목적을 두었다. 세계시민교육의 인지적 영역, 사회·정서적 영역, 행동적 영역을 중심으로 지정학적 접근의 가치와 필요성, 그리고 접근 방법을 모색하였다. 세계시민교육에서 지정학적 접근방법은 첫째, 세계에 대한 시각, 지식과 평가에 대한 비판적 분석과 성찰을 과정 중심으로 접근해야 한다. 둘째, 지리학적 지정학에 의거한 지구촌 사회의 공존, 평화, 상호협력, 지속가능발전을 위한 지정학적 접근 방법을 모색해야 한다. 셋째, 지구적 차원에서 지구상의 모든 생명체를 보호하고 인간과 인간뿐 아니라 인간과 비인간 간의 공존적 평화를 위한 글로벌 지정학으로의 전환을 모색할 필요가 있다.
