A Study on the Korean Geographic Curriculum for Peace and Reunification-Focusing on the Relational Conception of Territory and Boundary- 평화와 통일을 위한 한국지리 교육과정 구상-영토와 경계의 관계론적 인식을 중심으로-: 김기남

Abstract

The international relations of geopolitical conflicts occurring around the Korean Peninsula are changing faster than ever. The geography society has discussed multi-scalar and open perceptions of places and territories. The notion of relational awareness on places contains such discussions. This concept will allow geography education a useful contribution to the needs of preparing for peace and reunification. Hence, this study pointed out the closed conception of the view on land reflected in the contents of the Korean geography curriculum and examined relational awareness of place. In addition, examples of contents that can reflect relational awareness on places were presented. The purpose of this study is to present a useful way of citizenship education that meets the needs of a changing era on peaceful unification with geography education which promotes students’ flexibility and openness on how they perceive territory.

한반도를 중심으로 벌어지고 있는 지정학적 대립의 관계가 그 어느 때 보다 빠르게 변하고 있다. 지리학계에서는 장소와 영토에 대한 다층적이고 개방적 인식을 논의해왔다. 관계론적 장소 인식 개념이 그런 논의들을 포함하고 있다. 이 개념은 평화와 통일 교육에서 지리 교과가 유용하게 기여할 수 있도록 해줄 것이다. 이에 본 연구는 한국지리 교육과정 내용에 반영되어 있는 폐쇄적인 국토관을 지적하고 관계론적 장소 개념의 유용성을 검토해보았다. 또한 관계론적 장소 인식을 반영할 수 있는 내용의 사례를 제시하였다. 궁극적으로 본 연구의 목표는 지리교육이 학생들의 개방적이고 유연한 국토 인식을 촉진하여, 변화하는 평화 통일 시대의 요구에 부응하는 시민성 교육의 유용한 방안을 제시하고자 하는 것에 있다.
